Project 1 – The Izomax AOGV enters the real world

Overview

The patented Izomax AOGV mechanical isolation system installs a barrier between a flange pair on a pressurized system whilst in continuous operation. Unlike alternative isolation technologies, the AOGV allows our customers to safely isolate process segments for inspection, maintenance, or repair without a cashflow shutdown!

On this first project for Izomax, AOGV blind spades were set on both sides of an inlet heater on a FPSO to reduce volume and enable chemical cleaning of the heater, while production was maintained through a parallel system. Substantial savings were achieved by avoiding non-productive time for preparation and the requirements for drainage of the heater and associated piping. Based on substantial time and cost savings, this activity is now performed twice yearly for the same customer. Utilising the AOGV system during the operation has also facilitated corrective maintenance of the heat exchangers, including safe vessel entry.

Project #1 was a success, and many more have followed. Processes, procedures, designs, engineering and technology developments have forged ahead since this initial project which took place offshore Norway in 2017.
