North Sea Fire Water Pump Maintenance

Overview

The patented AOGV mechanical isolation system installs a barrier between a flange pair on a pressurized system whilst in continuous operation. Unlike alternative isolation technologies, the AOGV allows our customers to safely isolate process segments for inspection, maintenance, or repair without a cashflow shutdown!

Izomax was chosen to perform a total of 8 isolations on the cooling water system for the firewater pumps on an offshore oil and gas platform. As no valves were present between the common pressurized manifold and the leaking equipment, use of traditional isolation and repair methods would have meant that production would be shut down to perform safety critical maintenance. Two AOGV mechanical isolation tools were used to insert blind spades on both a 2″ inlet and a 4″ outlet on the four pumps, enabling maintenance without costly and complex delays from shutting down production.
