Replacement of 6 inch valve on refinery cooling system for supermajor in USA
Overview
The patented AOGV mechanical isolation system installs a barrier between a flange pair on a pressurized system whilst in continuous operation. Unlike alternative isolation technologies, the AOGV allows our customers to safely isolate process segments for inspection, maintenance, or repair without a cashflow shutdown!
A 6 inch class 400 cast iron ball valve with internal leakage prevented maintenance on one of three pumps on a refinery’s cooling system. Due to operational requirements, two pumps could not provide sufficient cooling for the whole plant and a conventional shutdown was planned to enable replacement of the leaking valve. Izomax designed and mobilized a purpose built AOGV mechanical isolation tool to isolate the leaking valve from the system, allowing the customer to conduct maintenance without interrupting the facility’s production. An additional benefit of utilizing the AOGV technology was mitigating and controlling the risk associated with exposure to the high temperature of the cooling medium. As a result of the flawless planning and execution of this project, the customer immediately placed a purchase order for replacement of similar valves on the two parallel systems.
Very Well Done!!
