AOGV enables replacement of 36 inch valve on flare line at LNG Plant in Africa
Overview
The patented AOGV mechanical isolation system installs a barrier between a flange pair on a pressurized system whilst in continuous operation. Unlike alternative isolation technologies, the AOGV allows our customers to safely isolate process segments for inspection, maintenance, or repair without a cashflow shutdown.
A 36” butterfly valve on the flare line of a major onshore LNG plant had been stuck in the closed position for several years, preventing use of the backup flare system. The valve needed to be replaced without disturbance to the plant operation or throughput. A partial facility shutdown was planned as part of the normal facility maintenance routines and use of the backup flare system was critical to avoid a full shutdown. Conventional intervention methods were estimated to have an incremental shutdown impact in the region of one month.
The use of the Izomax AOGV Mechanical Isolation System enabled the operator to replace the failed butterfly valve prior to maintenance, allowing for operational continuity and mitigating the need for an extended shutdown.
On behalf of our team that travelled to see you over the last 2 days I really want to thank you so much for the tour of your impressive office and workshop and your fabulous hospitality!
