Izomax facilitates isolation and safe maintenance work on storage tanks at onshore gas processing plant

Overview

The patented AOGV mechanical isolation system installs a barrier between a flange pair on a pressurized system whilst in continuous operation. Unlike alternative isolation technologies, the AOGV allows our customers to safely isolate process segments for inspection, maintenance, or repair without a cashflow shutdown!

Prior to starting maintenance work on storage tanks for finished products, the storage tank had to be drained. The challenge was that several of the pipes connected to the tank were leaking inventory into the tank due to passing valves. The owner of the facility concluded that using the Izomax AOGV mechanical isolation technology was the preferred solution. The site was modelled in our engineering design tool based on 3D scanning performed at the facility. A 14″ AOGV was designed, manufactured, certified and used to set barriers, preventing inventory from flowing into the storage tank. Solving this issue conventionally would require a shutdown, interrupting production and export as well as requiring large volumes of nitrogen in order to gas-free the system.  AOGV mechanical isolation tools were used at three locations to isolate the storage tank.
