10” Class 150 AOGV (Butterfly valve)
The Izomax patented Butterfly AOGV is a mechanical isolation tool designed for temporary installation on existing butterfly valve interfaces in live process systems. The system enables the safe replacement, maintenance, or refurbishment of butterfly valves and associated sealing components without requiring full plant shutdown or extensive system depressurisation. By establishing a controlled barrier during intervention, the Butterfly AOGV facilitates intrusive maintenance activities while maintaining a high level of operational continuity and process integrity.
The Butterfly AOGV is designed and verified in accordance with the requirements of the EU Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) (2014/68/EU) and EN 13445 – Unfired Pressure Vessels. The solution is developed to support maintenance activities on live process systems while reducing downtime, minimising environmental impact, and improving operational flexibility compared to conventional isolation and shutdown methods.

* The weight of the AOGV is suspended at all times by chain hoists attached to the superstructure or scaffolding above the actual flange.
The Butterfly AOGV safely manipulates the flange arrangement and butterfly valve assembly to establish a temporary isolation barrier during maintenance activities. The system allows removal and replacement of valves, gaskets, and associated components while maintaining controlled conditions throughout the intervention. Standard bolting equipment is used for flange bolt access and torquing.
Plant reinstatement is a critical element of any isolation activity, and the Butterfly AOGV is designed to support efficient and controlled return-to-service operations. As a temporary intervention tool, the Butterfly AOGV can be installed during normal plant operation, allowing essential maintenance and inspection activities to be performed with significantly reduced impact on production compared to traditional shutdown-based methods. By keeping the majority of the process fluid within the operating system, the solution contributes to reduced emissions, lower operational cost, reduced waste handling, and minimised production downtime.
